Okay so our 20-month old little Monkey Angel (as I like to call her) does have friends....but they're all older. She's never around kids her own age...it's usually 3-4 year olds plus.
So tonight we had a nice evening and went to our good friends' house. They have two girls of their own (both coincidentally 5-months older than Danielle and Marisa).
In fact, Marisa and the older girl have played together since they were babies. They really seem to have a special friendship...which is awesome! Tonight Marisa was crying because she didn't want to leave (and was absolutely exhausted since it was past 10pm) so her buddy was hugging her. It was the cutest thing.
And now Danielle made a buddy. These two sweet toddlers played fairly well together. They even kissed, hugged and snuggled underneath a blanket together. Oh, and this sweetie kept putting Danielle's pacifier in her mouth for her. It too was the cutest thing.
On days like this, I really feel good about my job as a mother. I am teaching my children how to maintain friendships...keeping their relationships steady - while keeping ours the same!! :-)
Bonus: I also must admit how nice it is to be around not only your good friends, but people you share your "parenting style" with.
