Proud Moment

I am one of those moms that have said that being a mom is a thankless job - and on this blog. After all, you do not get paid for it, or receive praise, or even get lunch breaks for that matter.

However, when you continue to have the kind of moments that I had today, it makes you feel like you really are doing a great job as a parent.

After Danielle and I pick up Marisa from school, I always give them playtime at the school. With all the snow that we have had, there are tons of hills and 'slides' that the kids love to play and slide on.

So Marisa and another boy are playing. As soon as Marisa sees Danielle climbing up, she says, "I am going to go help my sister". She does this without thinking.

Later, Marisa is helping Danielle go down the snow slide. Another girl Marisa's age is there and was not paying attention to Danielle. Without a second thought she tells this girl, "Don't push my sister. Be careful".

I am so proud of my Marisa. She is so loving, affectionate and protective of her sister.

So I take it back - being a mom is far from a thankless job. There is absolutely nothing I could do in life that could make me feel happier. And there is no amount of money in the world that could replace watching the love and bond my two girls share.
